General Information

What is La Tanda?

La Tanda is a community-driven savings pool program designed to empower individuals and communities through financial inclusion and collaborative investment. It brings people together to maximize their financial gains and mitigate potential risks through a shared pool of resources.

Who can participate in La Tanda?

La Tanda is open to individuals who are committed to financial growth and community development. Participants must be able to make regular contributions and adhere to the program's guidelines.

How does La Tanda work?

  • Group Formation: Participants are grouped into "tandas" of a minimum of 15 and maximum of 34 individuals.

  • Contributions: Each member contributes 3,000 lempiras every two weeks, which adds up to 6,000 lempiras per month. However, the exact amount can change based on the community's goals.

  • Investment and Distribution:
The money collected is shared equally among all members, following a specific order determined by a random draw.

  • Duration: Each tanda lasts for one year, although this duration can be adjusted based on specific objectives. This flexibility allows for tandas to be tailored to different needs and goals.

  • Flexibility: Participants can join up to 2 tandas initially, with the option to join a third tanda if they are already involved in existing La Tanda programs.

  • Security: A 1.96% contribution on each member's contribution of 3,000 lempiras every two weeks is recommended as insurance to safeguard the funds and ensure a secure environment for all participants.
